Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel in Singapore

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Review

Review of the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel in Singapore

After landing at Changi Airport around 11.00pm and with a morning flight the next day, we decided to try to get a few hours sleep at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located in terminal 3 at Changi Airport in Singapore.

Our flight arrived in Terminal 2 at Changi Airport so after passing through customs we just had to board the airport skytrain for the quick trip to Terminal 3. Once we arrived at Terminal 3 it was just a short walk to reach the hotel.

Hotel Room

After a quick check-in we were allocated a King Room on the top (9th) floor. The room was modern and spacious with a nice big comfortable bed.

The bathroom has separate bath and shower and also comes complete with floral featured switchable privacy smart glass panels – just in case you need a bit of privacy while taking a nice relaxing bath!

There is also a good choice of bathroom amenities, which you will need to freshen up if you have just arrived after a long flight.

Rooms also come complete with a mini-bar and coffee and tea making facilities. There was also quite a few complimentary water bottles provided in the room.

When we woke up in the morning we found our room had a nice view of one of the runways. Even though the hotel is surrounded by Changi Airport, you do not hear any of the plane noise from the rooms.

Hotel Pool

While we didn’t get to spend a lot of time exploring all of the hotel features, we did get to pop by the hotel pool to have a look around. This is a really nice area which has a very tropical ambience to it.  We didn’t have the kids with us on this trip but they definitely would have loved this large pool area if they were!

There is poolside dining available by the pool and the club lounge is located right alongside the pool area.

Buffet Breakfast

The buffet breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is at the Azur restaurant. It consists of a nice mix of western and local asian cuisines including both egg and noodle stations.

Lobby Lounge

For those that that don’t want the big buffet breakfast there is also a little cafe set up in the Lobby Lounge for a light bite to eat or a coffee on the go.

This is a really great modern convenient transit hotel at Changi Airport. After we checked out we took the link bridge back to Terminal 2 for our flight and it was only a 5 minute walk. Those that can’t walk that distance can take the skytrain to their departing terminal. We look forward to returning next time when transiting through Singapore, especially if we are travelling with the kids as we think they will also really enjoy it here.

Rooftop Sky Bar at the Hilton Singapore

Hilton Singapore Hotel Review

Hilton Singapore Hotel Review

Situated on the famous Singapore shopping strip of Orchard Road, the Hilton Singapore proved to be great little hotel to stay at with our two boys aged 8 and 10. We had booked two standard rooms and upon check-in were upgraded to two interconnecting executive rooms (note: we are HHonors Diamond). The rooms were a good size but with quite a small bathroom. Our bathroom also had the all in one bath/shower, which we really don’t like as it’s not too comfortable for taller people. There was a nice comfy couch in the room as well as a good sized desk with universal power outlets.  We also had a box of chocolates waiting for us when we arrived.

There is a Nespresso pod machine in the room and mini bar, but be aware mini bar prices are pretty high. Housekeeping here were fantastic, especially with the kids. Everyday the boys left them little notes and the housekeeper always replied and left them little surprises. They also left us plenty of bottles of water which was very much appreciated.

One of the main features of this hotel is its rooftop swimming pool on level 24. This is a great place to relax and cool down after a day out in the Singapore heat and humidity. If travelling with kids, be aware that this is a pretty deep pool with its deepest point being 3 metres. Meals and drinks are available poolside as well. The pool is open from 7.00am until 8.00pm. From 4.00pm the pretty impressive poolside rooftop Sky Bar opens until 12.00am.

Also up on the rooftop is one of the Hilton Singapore restaurants, Il Cielo Bar & Restaurant which is an award winning Italian restaurant. Next to the reception and lobby area is the Opus Bar & Grill as well as the Opus breakfast and lunch buffet restaurants. For more casual dining there is the Glow Juice Bar upstairs from the lobby. If you have a sweet tooth, the D9 Bakery in the lobby is filled with homemade cakes, pastries, macaroons, pralines and chocolates.

We didn’t try the buffet breakfast at Opus as we had access to the executive lounge instead. Although not as extensive as the buffet, we found the lounge continental breakfast adequate enough for us. There were scrambled eggs, bacon and a few other hot dishes which varied on different days. Cereals and bread, toast, fruit, cold cuts, salad as well as a good selection of pastries were also available. Breakfast in the executive lounge is available from 6.00am – 10.30am.

The executive lounge here at the Hilton Singapore really is excellent, especially the attentive staff who will do anything to assist you. It is a good size lounge and it was never very busy while we were there. The Evening Canapés and Drinks were available from 5.30pm – 7.30pm and included self pour beer, wine and spirits – although most of the time staff were on hand to keep topping up our drinks. There was a good selection of hot and cold canapés which varied each night that we were there. There is a great selection of cheeses, breads, Doritos, fruits and desserts available every night as well. We did try the afternoon tea one day (available from 3.00pm-4.30pm) but it was very limited so we didn’t bother going back again.

Hilton Singapore is located on Orchard Road in the heart of Singapore’s shopping and entertainment district. There is a nearby MRT station within walking distance and if you are like us and want to use the Hop On Hop Off Bus, there is a stop just across the road from the hotel. Taxis were always easy to get – cost from the airport is about $30 SGD and to get to Sentosa Island is around $12 SGD.

We really enjoyed our stay here at the Hilton Singapore and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Conrad Singapore

Conrad Singapore Hotel Review

Conrad Singapore Hotel

We stayed at Conrad Singapore in August 2104 for 4 nights. As soon as we arrived we were recognised as Diamond HHonors members and upgraded to an executive room.  Straight away we were taken by staff up to the executive lounge on 31st floor where we were served refreshments while checking-in. We would definitely recommend an executive room as we found the lounge excellent with very friendly and efficient staff (please note that children under 12 are not permitted in the executive lounge though).  As we had 2 children under 12 we were allowed access to one of the meeting rooms next to the lounge so that we would still have access to the food and beverages available in the lounge.

In the executive lounge they serve daily afternoon tea and canapés in the evenings, with alcoholic beverages available all afternoon and evening up until 8.00pm. We found there was a good variety of food every day that changed regularly. We did not have breakfast in the lounge as we were given the option to have the buffet breakfast at Oscars which we chose instead. There was plentiful choice for us at Oscars, with a nice mix of Western and Asian food as well as healthy choice options available. Especially loved the freshly squeezed juices! Once again there was plenty of staff working and making sure we were well looked after. We also stopped by Oscars Sidewalk Terrace a couple of the nights to grab some snack meals and cocktails which was nice and handy after exploring the sights of Singapore at night.

The Conrad Singapore rooms were nice and spacious and the bathroom had a nice big bath and shower. Our room was replenished daily with fresh fruit and water bottles which was a nice touch. On arrival there were also welcome chocolates and of course the much loved Conrad Bear and rubber ducky. The kids also received an activity pack each which was a nice touch. Loved that there was en espresso machine in the room too.

The pool is good to take a dip and cool off from the Singapore heat. The kids loved it while we ordered cocktails and snacks and just relaxed. The gym is also a good size for travellers and we also made use of the Day Spa which is really nice for treatments.

The location of the hotel was good for us as tourists. Taxi fare from the airport was just under $30. It is walking distance to many attractions like Marina Bay, the Flyer, Bugis St Markets and the Merlion. It is right near Suntec City which is the start of the Hop On, Hop Off bus tour which is a great way to see the city of Singapore. The Conrad Singapore is also right next to a MRT (train) station which is such an easy, clean and cheap way to get around Singapore.  It was also only a $10 taxi ride to Sentosa Island.

One feature we love of Conrad Hotels is the Conrad Concierge App (free to download). If staying at one of the Conrad hotels you can request different amenities, service times and tour bookings.

Excellent service makes this hotel great and we would happily recommend this hotel and will look forward to staying here again in the future.
